What makes these advanced coloring pages?
Most free coloring pages for adults are patterns or mandalas. These are realistic drawings of real animals, with the detail a practiced colorist wants: fur that runs in the right direction, shell plates that overlap, and a soft gray shading guide under the lines that shows where the light and shadow fall. If you are new to realistic coloring, the guide does the hard part for you. Our article on how to color with a gray shading guide shows how.
How to print them
- Choose US Letter in the US and Canada, A4 almost everywhere else.
- Print at 100% (actual size), not "fit to page", so the corner marks stay true.
- Use the heaviest plain paper your printer takes.
- Trim to the corner marks for a 7 x 9 inch print that fits an 8 x 10 frame. How to frame a coloring page.
All 90 drawings, in the color guide
Every drawing in Quiet Ocean and Quiet Winter has its own page in our free color guide, with the real colors of the subject and the pencils to start with. The drawings to color are in the books: 45 to a book, each printed on one side of its own page.

Questions
Are these coloring pages really free?
Yes. Enter your first name and email, tick the box to receive the page and occasional Nibfern news, and the download link appears straight away. The link works for 7 days, so save the PDF. There is nothing to pay. About a week later we send one email about the book your page comes from, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
Can I print a page more than once?
Yes. Print it as many times as you like for your own use, for example to try different colors or to color one for a friend. The pages are not for resale.
What size are the free pages?
Each PDF comes in US Letter and A4. Print at 100% (actual size). The drawing trims to a 7 x 9 inch print that fits a standard 8 x 10 frame.
What paper should I print on?
The heaviest plain paper your printer takes. Smooth, thicker paper holds colored pencil layers better than everyday copy paper.
Are there more pages to color?
Each Nibfern coloring book has 45 drawings. You can see every drawing, with its real colors, in the free color guide. The full books are on Amazon, and the same drawings are sold as printable sets on Etsy.
